ERP International: Veterans who continue to serve – Spotlight on Timothy Jones

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 9, 2021

Imagine being responsible for delivering quality healthcare to 95,000 people, some of whom live 200 to 300 miles away from your healthcare facility. Retired Air Force Senior Master Sergeant Timothy Jones thinks about this every day when he heads to the Eglin Air Force Base Hospital in Florida’s panhandle. Timothy serves as ERP International’s Site Lead and Quality Assurance/Risk Manager for Medical Logistics at the 96th Medical Group Hospital, its formal name, and manages risk daily.

Eglin is a full-service hospital with more than 1,500 staff. It is the largest military health facility between Jacksonville and Biloxi. People receive primary and preventive care, lab tests, surgery, labor and delivery, pharmacy, vision, dental, mental health and substance abuse care, among other services.

As a senior liaison between ERP and Eglin’s healthcare staff, Timothy assists with oversight of more than 130 ERP healthcare professionals across all specialties. The strong leadership skills he developed in the Air Force prepared him to manage quality control for all the supplies, equipment and technology used there. Tim appreciates the importance of strong relationships with the staff; they receive, install, test and maintain the 6,000 pieces of equipment that active duty, veterans and their families depend on for the best health care.

Why did Tim return as a civilian and veteran to work in a military healthcare setting?

“Working at ERP today, I’m giving back to my country and helping to grow and develop the next generation through shared experiences. I’m proud to have served. Being part of a community who made sacrifices means a lot to me. We found the best in each other. We made things happen despite various backgrounds, cultures, or traditions.”

“I served in the Air Force for 28 years (1984 to 2012),  and have worked for ERP International for more than eight years. I had two long term deployments — Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar. There were two tours in Japan and one at Ramstein AB, Germany, and multiple temporary duty assignments to England, Austria, Slovakia, and Bulgaria. I served at Nellis AFB, Nevada, and Mountain Home AFB, Idaho. Shared worldwide experience creates a special kind of camaraderie among the Americans who serve their country, far from home and family. It never leaves you.”

“ERP is a relationship-centered company with a mindset of putting people first, and working in healthcare is a way for me to live those values. Understanding I could only wear the uniform for a finite amount of time, my mindset was that every position held was a stepping stone to civilian life. I took the best of the unique experiences and leadership opportunities the military provided and leveraged those experiences to make the transition seamless. I use those same experiences in my work with ERP — building relationships and leading people. I am a servant leader who wants to help others succeed.”

As we honor our veterans this month, thank you for your service, Tim.
